Carnival 2010 marks the fourth year of J'ouvert mas in Port-of-Spain for Chocolate City, produced by North South Crew. They’ve just opened up a mas camp, conveniently located next to The Corner Bar, at the corner of Ariapita Avenue and Gatacre Street.
They’ve got some fair experience under their belt; before venturing to town, the Chocolate City team produced bands for seven years as part of Point Fortin’s Borough Day celebrations.
Now established as a J’ouvert fixture, their 2010 presentation, Four(4)Play, will offer masqueraders a chance to jump and chip to music on Carnival Monday morning, but not doused in the usual mud or paint. This band plays in liquid chocolate.
It’s totally edible, says staffer Maria, who sits ready to register would-be participants at the mas camp office.
The band is offering lots of give-aways, breakfast, t-shirt and other goodies. For more info, interested persons can call 628-8MAS or check them online at chocolatecitymastt.com
