The sounds of sweet calypso music rang out at De Nu Pub as AllRounder launched his new CD. It was a big night of new music from perfromers including Lady Wonder, Shirlane Hendrickson, Luta, Pink Panther, Contender and Dr Will B.
The calypso singers debuted new songs for Carnival 2010 at the pub—formerly Mas Camp—at the corner of French St and Ariapita Avenue in Woodbrook. Inside, it was standing room only, as a capacity crowd turned out to patronise the show and to show support for AllRounder, a veteran of T&T music.
AllRounder (Anthony Hendrickson) led the cast of singers, while the show was hosted by his daughter, Shirlane Hendrickson. In typical fashion, the songs dealt—often satirically—with current events, and some featured sexy word-play, keeping the audience of kaiso (calypso) lovers fully entertained.
They sang along, laughed uncontrollably and nodded in agreement with some of the more serious sentiments.
When it was his turn to perform, AllRounder showed he's still got it, delivering his funny song, Dive, to the enjoyment of all, while being backed up by his two daughters.
