Pianist Mervin deGannes is in his early eighties, but maturity of years hasn't dulled his talent. He was the solo live entertainer at Satchmo's on Ariapita Avenue earlier this week.

De Gannes shares the stage at the jazz-themed restaurant and bar every week. Live musicians are in the house every evening from Wednesday to Saturday.

On Wednesday night, several parties of diners, both inside and out on the verandah enjoyed the piano renditions of jazz classics like You Can't Take That Away from Me and The Look of Love.

At the bar, some American visitors enjoyed the company of bartender Kerry, aka Teddy Wilson (all the wait staff at Satchmo's take on the adopted names of famous artistes), and locals enjoying an evening cocktail with a jazzy twist—like a Miles Julep or Bootsie Collins.
